An example of this application could be using granite for most of the kitchen countertop area combined with a cherry or teak hardwood on an island. 

Countertop height and depths can also vary. They don't all have to be the same size. Certain areas, such as those used for baking, can be installed at a lower height to make it easier on the cook for less strain on the back and arms.

The addition of a second sink in the kitchen is a great way to help organize the workflow, especially if you have a large family or multiple cooks.
